Das Unvorhersehbare steht jede Nacht auf dem Programm: ein indisch – irischer Liedermacher und Sänger vielleicht, oder eine literarische Lesung in Englisch, Deutsch und Suaheli. Eine musikalische Darbietung mit drei Banjos und einer Maultrommel oder eine Kooperative aus DJs mit unzüchtiger Elektro-Musik – die Unterhaltung stellt jede Definition garantiert in Frage. Der Gründer des ART PUB, Sir Thomas Heger hat es sich zu seiner persönlichen Aufgabe gemacht, herkömmliche Definitionen von „Kunst“ in Zweifel zu ziehen und darüber hinaus die Frage: „Was ist eine Bar?“ neu zu beantworten. Ein Treffpunkt für Leute mit ähnlichen Interessen? Oder für Menschen mit unvereinbaren Anliegen. Der Künstler Paul Woods, Gründer der berüchtigten Kreuzberger Brit-Punk Kunst Galerie hat eine Vielzahl talentierte und absurde Werke und Künstler präsentiert und dabei die Grenzen zwischen „Kunst“ und „Absurdem“ erweitert und/oder überschritten. Frau Puschel, bekannt als Klub-Göre, hält regelmäßig Hof. Russische Emigranten treten vor vollem Haus auf. Die „Ugly Americans“, eine Band aus San Franzisko, wurde des Hauses verwiesen. Aber Ladenhüter der DDR bleiben im Bild. Junge Ossis und Wessis teilen sich den Stammtisch, das Geheimnis des Rezeptes liegt in der Mixtur. Es gibt keine Regeln in der Kunst oder in Bars. Der ART PUB ist eine offene Bühne für Ideen und Ausdruck. Der einzige ‚Haken’ bleibt, dass Sie möglicherweise berauschter gehen, als Sie gekommen sind."

A musical performance involving three banjos and a Jew's harp or a DJ cooperative of fornicating electronica, the entertainment is sure to question the definition. The Art Pub's founder, Thomas Heger, has made it his personal mission to question what is art, and further more, what is a bar. A meeting place for people with similar interests? Or disparate concerns. From its inception till mid 2007 the Art Pub was home to Gallery Wallywoods, among other things. Artist Paul Woods, founder of the infamous Kreuzberg Brit punk art gallery, now at Weissensee, has presented an array of the gifted and the absurd, pushing the boundaries of what is art and what is absurd. Frau Puschel, of club brat fame, holds court regularly. Russian emigres perform to a packed house. The San Francisco band The Ugly Americans have been asked to leave. But DDR leftovers keep the flame. Young wessies and old ossies share the same 'Stammtisch'. The secret ingredient seems to be the mix. There are no rules in art or bars. The Art Pub is an open space for ideas & expression. Only catch is, you may walk out more intoxicated than when you arrived."
